The Summer Olympic Games, the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II and the reopening of the Tate Gallery are just three of the major events that will put London centre stage of the world map in 2012.

Alberto Guardiani has chosen to join in the celebrative moment by dedicating to Brit style and the UK capital city an original revisitation of one of its all-time hit products: the TOKI sneaker.

Toki London 2012 is the highlight of the SS 12 Guardiani Sport collection. It offers a fresh slant on the distinctive silhouette that has made the shoe a winner year after year. Other new features include the use of a soft white calf leather with suede inserts.

The walk through Corso Como in Milan is a conundrum of confusion in this period. The skylight, enveloped by construction cranes and silhouettes of budding skyscrapers in preparation for the 2015 EXPO evoke a sense of modern, technological wonder. But as we approach 10 Corso Como by foot, the emotions of the evening begin to sing a very different tune.

It’s always a curious sensation to come to 10 Corso Como with guests who have never been and see their initial reaction, but this time was special. The 3 guests, the finalists of the CINDERTHRILLER international design contest hosted by ALBERTO GUARDIANI & i-D MAGAZINE, had never visited the concept store considered one of the top trendsetters in the Western World. The ohs and ahs from the 3 finalists, Lady San Pedro, Alex Noble and Azadeh Zandi were audible as we walked through the vine-enveloped courtyard entrance.

The Cinderthriller Finale, a celebration of the new “IT-SHOE”, The Flutterby Shoe, designed by Lady San Pedro for the competition, was perfectly staged in the backdrop of 10 Corso Como’s picturesque location. Maxi-screens played the 5th Cinderthriller trailer video to set the mood while ipads on pedestals showing off around 800 contest designs were scattered throughout the courtyard and the store to view. Guests and journalists mingled under the wrought-iron canopy, awaiting the arrival of the finalists, while The Flutterby Shoe was displayed inside the concept store, turning gracefully on a vintage record player encased in a voluminous glass dome.

The dj set kicked off, by dj Marcelo Burlon while guests began to file in, but this didn’t stop journalists and fashion trendsetters from interviewing the finalists or the Cinderthriller judges headed by Terry Jones, creator of i-D and Rubina Guardiani, daughter of the brand’s founder.

The Flutterby Shoe, to be sold in 10 Corso Como in Milan and Colette in Paris for the FW12-13 collection is designed as a detailed butterfly wing heel on a sensual bright red pump.The winning design was created by Lady San Pedro, a 28-year-old designer from the Philippines who works in advertising and makes her home in Barcelona. It’s an iconic shoe that captures an unconventional sense of femininity reflecting San Pedro’s personal philosophy of life: “spontaneity, and being able to ‘wing it’, can only come from a woman of intelligence and experience”.

Da sempre attento ai new media e al variegato mondo dei blogger, che spopolano nel web, lo scorso 30 Novembre Alberto Guardiani ha ospitato, nella sua boutique di Milano, il lancio ufficiale del blog di Alessandro Calascibetta: The Men Issue.

Alessandro Calascibetta, che ha iniziato la sua carriera alla fine degli anni ’80 a L’Uomo Vogue, passando poi ad Harper’s Bazaar Uomo e ad Uomo, da lui fondato nel 2000, attualmente è il fashion director per la moda maschile delle testate RCS Max, Style Magazine, Io Donna e Il Mondo.

The Men Issue, blog ricco di immagini d’archivio e riflessioni sull’evoluzione dell’estetica maschile, è stato presentato durante un cocktail esclusivo presso la boutique Alberto Guardiani, al quale hanno partecipato numerosi ospiti ed una nutrita community di fashion insider.

Increasingly aware and ever-more present among new media circles and the expanding blogosphere, last November 30th Alberto Guardiani, in its Milan boutique, hosted the official launch of the blog “The Men Issue,” by Alessandro Calascibetta.

Alessandro Calascibetta began his career at the end of the 1980′s with L’Uomo Vogue, and followed on to Harper’s Bazaar Uomo and Uomo magazine, which he founded in 2000. He is currently the Men’s Fashion Director for RCS’ publications Max, Style Magazine, Io Donna and Il Mondo.

The Men Issue, a blog rich with archival images and expressions of the evolution of men’s fashion, was presented at an exclusive cocktail at the Alberto Guardiani boutique. Numerous guests and fashion insiders present added to the picturesque atmosphere of the event.

Il 24 settembre 2011, a Milano, è iniziata la caccia alla nuova It-Shoe, promossa da Alberto Guardiani in collaborazione con il magazine internazionale i-D.
L’esclusivo “Cinderthriller” party è stato, infatti, l’occasione per presentare l’omonimo contest dedicato alla ricerca della scarpa icona, capace di seguire il successo della Lipstick Heel.

Una serata all’insegna del glamour internazionale, resa unica dalla direzione creativa di Terry Jones e dalla musica dei dj Matthew Stone, Princess Julia e Dorian Gray.
Novecento gli ospiti presenti, tra i quali tanti personaggi del mondo dello spettacolo e del fashion system come Malika Ayane, Anna dello Russo, Carla Sozzani e gli stilisti emergenti Marco de Vincenzo, Andrea Incontri, Fleet Ilya e Andrea Pompilio.

Nel corso del party è stato presentato in anteprima il primo della serie di 5 video, realizzati da fotografi e videomaker di fama mondiale, per raccontare questa avvincente ricerca.
L’atmosfera originale, la musica e il video avranno di sicuro ispirato i designer presenti e ora non resta che aspettare di vedere le proposte per la nuova It-Shoe.

In Milan, 24th September 2011, the hunt for the new It-Shoe began, promoted by Alberto Guardiani together with the international magazine i-D. The exclusive party, titled “Cinderthriller”, launched the contest dedicated to the world-wide search for the new iconic shoe capable of matching the success of the Lipstick Heel.

An evening enveloped in international glamour, was made one-of-a-kind by creative director Terry Jones and music by deejays Matthew Stone, Princess Julia and Dorian Gray. Nine hundred guests were present, including such fashion and entertainment names as Malika Ayane, Anna dello Russo, and Carla Sozzani with emerging designers Marco de Vincenzo, Andrea Incontri, Fleet Ilya and Andrea Pompilio.

During the party the first trailer of 5 videos was presented, created by world-famous photographers and filmmakers to tell the story of this compelling global style hunt. The unmistakably original atmosphere, the music and the video will have guaranteed inspiration for all present designers. We can only hold our breath in anticipation while waiting to see what sketches are proposed for the new It-Shoe.

Un progetto all’insegna della femminilità e della joie de vivre, che segue l’inarrestabile ascesa della Lipstick Heel, la scarpa icona di Alberto Guardiani, che ha conquistato le donne di tutto il mondo, tra cui la cantante Katy Perry e Sarah di Colette. Un successo che ha spinto Alberto Guardiani a collaborare con i-D per lanciare un contest mondiale alla ricerca della nuova It-Shoe, capace di seguire le tracce della Lipstick.

“Cinderthriller”, questo il nome del contest, scelto da Terry Jones per racchiudere, in una sola parola, la femminilità che questa scarpa dovrà rappresentare e l’emozione legata alla sua scoperta.

Il concorso, aperto a tutti i designer e gli appassionati di calzature femminili, è stato lanciato il 22 settembre, in occasione della settimana di Milano Moda Donna (GUARDA L’EVENTO DI LANCIO), e si concluderà, in prima battuta, l’11 novembre, data ultima per la raccolta dei bozzetti dei partecipanti.

This incredible success has led to Alberto Guardiani joining forces with i-D to launch a worldwide competition to find the next It Shoe, one capable of repeating the Lipstick Heel’s remarkable performance. The competition has been named ‘Cinderthriller’, a title which epitomises the feminine concept and the thrill of the search.

The competition is open to aspiring shoe lovers and designers internationally, launching during Milan Fashion week on Thursday, September 22nd (WATCH THE LAUNCH PARTY), and continuing up until midnight November 11th.

The ten most innovative shoe designs will be presented to a prestigious panel of industry superstars including Terry Jones, i-D’s Editor in Chief, Rubina – one of the Guardiani daughters, Anna dello Russo – the international creative consultant and fashionista, Georgina Goodman – the prolific shoe designer, Sarah – the owner of Paris’ most famous concept store and Andrew Keith, president of Hong Kong’s premium department store, Lane Crawford.

Three finalists will be invited to present their creations during an event at 10 Corso Como during Milan Fashion week February 2012. The winning designer will receive £5,000 prize money and see the new It Shoe become part of the Alberto Guardiani autumn/winter 12 collection, sold within the brand’s stores as well as key retail partners, Colette and Corso Como.
i-D will invite top design institutions to participate, as well as promoting the competition across i-D’s network of international contributors and collaborators. Il quinto video riassume l’intero percorso che ha portato alla nascita della capsule collection.
A partire dall’incontro tra Alberto Guardiani e Sébastien Clivaz, Fashion Director della testata internazionale, sotto la cui direzione creativa si sono susseguiti i contributi dei vari protagonisti, ognuno documentato da una delle puntate del video reportage, on air nei mesi scorsi:

- THOM SWEENEY, duo di sarti britannici, Thom Whiddett e Luke Sweeney, esponenti contemporanei della grande tradizione di Savile Row, sede dei più importanti laboratori di sartoria del mondo, che hanno contribuito alla progettazione dei modelli;

- SCHOELLER, azienda svizzera, dal 1868 all’avanguardia nella ricerca di materiali innovativi, che ha realizzato un tessuto ad hoc, idro repellente, anti sporco e ultra resistente, attingendo alla sua lunga storia e alle tecniche più moderne di trattamento dei filati;

- “REVENGE IS SWEET”, duo di graphic designer composto dalla francese Angelique Piliere e dall’australiano Lee Owens, che hanno lavorato alla brand identity della limited edition.

This episode makes a summary of all the work involved to create the capsule collection, starting from the meeting between Alberto Guardiani and Sébastien Clivaz, Wallpaper* Fashion Director.
Under their joint supervision three experts have contributed to the collection’s making, each of them featured in one of the previous episodes, on air last months:

- THOM SWEENEY, British tailoring duo Thom Whiddett and Luke Sweeney, contemporary exponents of the long and peerless tradition of Savile Row (byword for the world’s leading bespoke tailors), who contributed to the design and finishing of the shoes;

- Schoeller, Swiss firm in the vanguard of textile research since 1868, which made the most of both company history and latest-generation tecniques to develop an extra durable, water repelling and dirt resistant fabric;

- Revenge is Sweet, collaboration between graphic designers Angelique Piviere (Lyon, France) and Lee Owens (Melbourne, Australia), who worked on the brand identity for this extraordinary project.
